The Derby Bentley Trophy 29th March
2008 While Europe's top golfers competed just down the road, at Marbella Golf the cars were the stars, as Cache+ brought together golfers and vintage & classic car enthusiasts to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first Bentley produced in Derby by Rolls Royce (after taking over WO Bentley's famous marque). This marks a new chapter for Marbella Golf, which, has recently seen strong growth under the management of Christina Cortese and the recent engagement of Craig Cooke, the highly respected South African course manager. This club is changing gear... The Derby Bentley Trophy filled the golf course with players, spectators, advertisers and cars. It was unanimously agreed that this highly original tournament, at which vintage and classic cars are displayed in the safety of the back tees, should become an annual event. Other events, which will draw more than just golfers to the club, are being planned. For Cache+, with teams representing clients from several different European countries, the event was another cog in its internationalisation process: from May we will be distributing to selected upmarket locations in the UK, Continental Europe and Dubai, heralding a doubling of circulation within months.
Golf With the amazingly high Stableford points score of 99, the EFG Bank team (below left) won the trophy (to be made from Bentley spare parts donated by Neill Fraser brought to Marbella on 29th March 2008). Congratulations to Alejandro de Fortuny, Brian Livesey, Chiky Balmaceda de Ahumada & I ņaki Diez de Oņate.Manilva Leisure (below right) sported the best dressed team (Simon Draper, Simon McIntosh, Chris Waddle & James Hewitt).
